We only accept original comment pieces and ask that all submissions comply with the following guidelines:
- Pieces should not exceed 750 words
- Spell out names rather than using acronyms
- Links to further reading are permissible provided they are not commercial in nature
- Generic press releases are not accepted
- Product promotion is not accepted
- Comments about events, such as budgets, sporting occasions and international gatherings, need to be submitted during or very shortly after those events to be considered

Patricia Gibson is a Scottish National Party politician who has represented Cunninghame South in the Scottish Parliament since May 2026. Born on 12 May 1968, she previously served as Member of Parliament for North Ayrshire and Arran from 2015 to 2024, during which time she held the position of SNP Shadow Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government between 2021 and 2022.
Since September 2023, Gibson has served as the SNP Attorney General Spokesperson, a role focusing on legal and constitutional matters. Her political career has encompassed both Westminster and Holyrood, with particular emphasis on housing policy, local government, and community affairs during her time in the House of Commons. Joanna Mary Gideon, born in November 1952, is a British Conservative Party politician who represented Stoke-on-Trent Central in Parliament following her election in December 2019. She served as the Member of Parliament for this constituency until the 2024 general election, during which time she worked on issues affecting her Midlands seat and contributed to parliamentary debate. Her tenure in the House of Commons coincided with a significant period in British politics, including the post-Brexit transition and the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic.
During her time as an MP, Gideon gained experience in parliamentary procedures and constituency representation, focusing on the needs of Stoke-on-Trent Central and its residents. Following the conclusion of her parliamentary service in 2024, she continues to share her insights and perspectives on British politics and policy matters. Pauline Elizabeth Latham is a British Conservative Party politician who represented Mid Derbyshire in Parliament for fourteen years. Born on 4 February 1948, she was elected as the constituency's Member of Parliament at the 2010 general election and served continuously until she stepped down at the 2024 general election. During her tenure in the House of Commons, Latham focused on a range of policy matters affecting her Derbyshire constituency and contributed to parliamentary debates on issues of importance to her constituents and the Conservative Party. Peter James Guy Aldous, born 26 August 1961, is a British Conservative Party politician who represented the Waveney constituency in Suffolk as Member of Parliament from 2010 until the seat's abolition in 2024. During his fourteen years serving the coastal Suffolk constituency, Aldous established himself as a dedicated representative for his local area whilst contributing to national political debate from the Conservative benches in the House of Commons.
Throughout his parliamentary career, Aldous brought the perspectives and concerns of his Waveney constituents to Westminster, participating in legislative discussions and scrutiny across the range of policy matters considered by Parliament. Following the end of his parliamentary tenure when the Waveney constituency was abolished in the 2024 boundary changes, he continues to engage with political and policy issues. Mark Julian Francis Pawsey is a British Conservative politician who represented Rugby as Member of Parliament from 2010 until 2024. Born on 16 January 1957, Pawsey followed in the footsteps of his father, Jim Pawsey, who had previously served as MP for Rugby from 1979 to 1983 and then for Rugby and Kenilworth until 1997. Mark Pawsey successfully won the Rugby constituency at the 2010 general election and served his constituents for fourteen years in the House of Commons.
In December 2022, Pawsey announced his decision not to seek re-election at the forthcoming 2024 general election, bringing his parliamentary career to a close after more than a decade of service. Throughout his time in Parliament, he contributed to debates and policy discussions as a representative of the Conservative Party. John David Penrose is a British politician who represented Weston-super-Mare as the Conservative Member of Parliament from 2005 until 2024. During his parliamentary career, he held several ministerial positions, including Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport between 2010 and 2012, and Lord Commissioner of the Treasury from 2014 to 2016. He also served as Minister of State for Northern Ireland from 2018 to 2019.
Penrose became the United Kingdom Anti-Corruption Champion at the Home Office in 2017, a role in which he focused on tackling corruption and promoting transparency. He resigned from this position in June 2022 in response to the Boris Johnson Partygate scandal. Throughout his time in Parliament, Penrose developed expertise in areas including culture, media and sport policy, government integrity, and Northern Ireland affairs.
