We only accept original comment pieces and ask that all submissions comply with the following guidelines:
- Pieces should not exceed 750 words
- Spell out names rather than using acronyms
- Links to further reading are permissible provided they are not commercial in nature
- Generic press releases are not accepted
- Product promotion is not accepted
- Comments about events, such as budgets, sporting occasions and international gatherings, need to be submitted during or very shortly after those events to be considered

William Cowan Rennie is a Scottish politician who led the Scottish Liberal Democrats from 2011 to 2021. Born in September 1967, he has represented North East Fife in the Scottish Parliament since 2016, having previously served as a list MSP for Mid Scotland and Fife from 2011 to 2016. Before entering Holyrood, Rennie won a by-election to become Member of Parliament for Dunfermline and West Fife in February 2006, though he lost that seat to Labour at the 2010 general election. Between his parliamentary terms, he worked as a Special Government Adviser at the Scotland Office for Liberal Democrat Scottish Secretaries Danny Alexander and Michael Moore.
Following his election to the Scottish Parliament in May 2011, Rennie was elected unopposed as leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats, succeeding Tavish Scott. He successfully transitioned from a regional list seat to win the North East Fife constituency in 2016 and retained it in 2021, but stepped down as party leader two months after that election, being replaced by Alex Cole-Hamilton. Xizi Daigle is a policy writer and political commentator with Young Voices UK. She is a graduate of the London School of Economics (LSE)’s Master of Public Administration (MPA) programme, where she specialised in Economic Policy. She previously worked with the UN, at a software start-up and in tech consulting, and on the Government Relations team of Canada’s largest life and health insurer.
Yerbol Orynbayev is an economist and former Governor of the World Bank on behalf of Kazakhstan. He served as the Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan from 2007-2013 and Aide to the President on economic policy from 2013-2015.
Yevheniia Mykhailivna Kravchuk is a Ukrainian politician who serves as a deputy in the Verkhovna Rada, the national parliament of Ukraine. Born on 23 December 1985, she has established herself as a prominent figure in Ukrainian legislative affairs. As a member of parliament, Kravchuk participates in shaping policy and representing her constituents within Ukraine's parliamentary system.
Throughout her career in the Verkhovna Rada, Kravchuk has contributed to political discourse and decision-making at the national level in Ukraine. She writes commentary for Comment Central, offering insights on political developments and policy matters.
