We only accept original comment pieces and ask that all submissions comply with the following guidelines:

  • Pieces should not exceed 750 words
  • Spell out names rather than using acronyms
  • Links to further reading are permissible provided they are not commercial in nature
  • Generic press releases are not accepted
  • Product promotion is not accepted
  • Comments about events, such as budgets, sporting occasions and international gatherings, need to be submitted during or very shortly after those events to be considered

Brian Leishman MP

Brian William Leishman is a Scottish politician who has represented Alloa and Grangemouth as a Member of Parliament since 2024. Born in July 1982, he combines his political career with a background in golf. As an MP, Leishman sits on the left of the Labour Party and is affiliated with the Socialist Campaign Group, a grouping of Labour parliamentarians known for advocating progressive policies on economic and social issues.

Since entering Parliament, Leishman has focused on matters affecting his Scottish constituency whilst contributing to broader debates from a socialist perspective. His dual interests in politics and sport reflect a varied professional background. He now writes commentary for Comment Central, offering analysis and perspectives on contemporary political developments.

Brian Patrick Bolger

Brian Patrick Bolger has taught Political Philosophy and Applied Linguistics in universities across Europe. He is an adviser to several Think Tanks and Corporates on Geopolitical Issues.

Brian Whittle MSP

Brian Whittle is a former professional athlete and Olympian. He was a Scottish Conservative Member of the Scottish Parliament between 2016 and 2026, spending much of that time as their spokesperson on public health issues.

Brooks Newmark

Brooks Phillip Victor Newmark is a former British Conservative politician and businessman who represented Braintree as a Member of Parliament from 2005 to 2015. Before entering Parliament, he worked as a senior partner at a private equity firm and was involved in various business ventures. During his time in Westminster, he served as a government minister before standing down at the 2015 general election.

Since leaving Parliament, Newmark has pursued academic and charitable work, becoming a visiting academic and guest lecturer in politics at the University of Oxford. He founded the charity A Partner in Education and has been particularly active in campaigning on homelessness issues. His policy expertise in this area led to his appointment to the Rough Sleeping Advisory Panel, where he advises the Home Office on tackling rough sleeping. Newmark writes commentary for Comment Central.
