About Michael
Dr Michael Vallely is a Chancellor’s Fellow at the Scottish Centre for Employment Research at the University of Strathclyde. His primary research interests are social class and labour market outcomes. Prior to Michael's current role, he was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Economic and Social Research Institute, during which he was awarded a European Consortium for Sociological Research Visitor Grant to carry out a research visit at Pompeu Fabra University.
He completed his PhD in Economics at the University of Glasgow, and during this carried out research visits at Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona and the University of Sydney, and was awarded the Hughes Hallett Scholarship for the academic year 2022-23.
Michael holds a Masters of Research in Sociology & Research Methods and a BA (Hons) in Accountancy. He previously worked as an Associate Tutor and Research Assistant at the University of Glasgow, Researcher at the University of Strathclyde, Occasional Lecturer at Glasgow Caledonian University and Research Officer at the Scottish Government.
