John Robert Lamont is a Scottish Conservative Party politician and solicitor who has represented Berwickshire, Roxburgh and Selkirk as a Member of Parliament since 2017. Before entering Westminster, he served in the Scottish Parliament from 2007 to 2017, initially representing Roxburgh and Berwickshire and later Ettrick, Roxburgh and Berwickshire following boundary changes. Born on 15 April 1976, Lamont has held several significant government and opposition positions during his parliamentary career.

Between October 2022 and July 2024, Lamont served as Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Scotland, contributing to the governance of Scottish affairs at Westminster. Following this, he briefly held the role of Shadow Secretary of State for Scotland from July to November 2024 before taking up his current position as Shadow Deputy Leader of the House of Commons in July 2025. Throughout his career, Lamont has focused on issues affecting Scotland and parliamentary procedure. He writes commentary for Comment Central.
