Bob Blackman MP is a British Conservative politician who has represented Harrow East in Parliament since 2010. Born Robert John Blackman on 26 April 1956, he first entered elected office as a Member of the London Assembly for Brent and Harrow, serving from 2004 to 2008 before moving to Westminster. Throughout his parliamentary career, Blackman has played significant roles in backbench politics, serving as Joint Executive Secretary of the 1922 Committee from 2012 to 2024.
In 2024, Blackman took on expanded responsibilities within Parliament, becoming both chairman of the influential 1922 Committee, which represents Conservative backbenchers, and chair of the Backbench Business Committee.
